Nothing builds trust like a sledgehammer
Clay and Steel is located in Richmond CA. Team Building activities can customized to your team’s abilities. Classes can be 2hrs, 4hrs or 6hrs.
Safety is our top priority. Every class begins with an overview of safe practices in the smithy. Our blacksmith shop can accommodate teams of up to ten. Larger groups can be accommodated by choosing to do welding (3-4 people) and/or cold working jewelry using no fire. Contact us for more info.

Where
We are located within Seaport Art Studios right off the freeway on Bayview, either I-80 or I-580. Located within walking distance of the bay trail. There is plenty of street parking. There are no nearby food options
The Environment
Team Builds are mostly indoors. We can fit six people inside. Weather permitting we can fire up our outdoor forge to include four more people.. The bay keeps temperatures mild even on a hot day. Seaport Art Studios is an active working environment shared by many teams of industrial artists. Expect large art projects and the noise and energy created by the process of creating large scale metal art.

Have crane arm, will travel.
Clay and Steel’s modified Ranger allows our smithy to take to the road.
We have attended Open Sauce, Maker Faire (Dale loves us!), and many on-site Gift Shows, Banquets, Operas, and open-air Markets. We can swing hammers, show smithing processes, speak about our jobs/lives, and/or forge gifts for team members. We also are set up to teach limited courses on-site, safely, with insurance, and all according to any fire safety practices you may have.
It sounds dangerous but our setup is small and safe.
Our shop is cute, has easy free bus/van parking, and is by the beautiful shoreline in Richmond.
