BLADES

Looking to hammer out a blade?

After forging, a belt grinder is used to remove stock and reveal your blade’s edge. Full-Tang Blade is an Advanced class. See below for beginner classes.

Our easier blades, to start.

Intro" classes are set up for new smiths to feel out the art in a single session, and two of our “Intro” classes are blades.

  • “Intro” Railroad Spike Knife is our most popular offering. A classic design, challenging steps, and it shines up nicely. Railroad spikes are a classic beginner’s material. Strong but workable, suitable for determined beginners.

  • “Intro” Sword Box Cutter Cute, light, sharp, and fits in a boot.

  • This project has more steps, but the hammering is easier.

  • Details matter: this blade takes more finesse and less aggression.

If you are ready to forge an advanced blade:

The Full-Tang Blade is a well-paced two day class, demanding but possible for the determined.

Official CBA Curriculum Classes are recommended to students who want to forge any other blade, as they teach all the basics and include practice “lab” time.
