The Quality

This pull is hand hammered from solid brass or bronze. It is not plated and will last outdoors for a lifetime or even longer. It doesn’t decay over time. Its composition is mostly copper alloyed with other alloyed elements. It can be continually recycled. Bronze never needs to become waste and even maintains it’s value.

There are no plastic parts in my bronze hardware. The screws are made of either brass or stainless steel.

The Finish

All brass and bronze items are hand shined and patinaed. A patina is a chemical finish on the surface of the metal.

All pulls are waxed and unlacquered. Instead of using a lacquer, which would leave a glossy and plastically finish, prone to cracking or spalling, we use wax. Wax can be shined repeatedly and the finish is easily renewed. Waxed patinas are known as “living finishes”.

A living finishes change over time. They change depending upon their environment and exposure to other chemicals. Brasses and bronzes can develop a green or blue hue if they are in a salt water environment, such as out at sea or on the coast. Even a few blocks inland, those colors rarely develop. Most of the time the yellows of a brass become deeper and more golden, and bronze turn a deeper brown. Any undesirable colors are easily removed with a scotch brite pad and the natural color of the metal will redevelop.

I’m so proud to create an item that is stylish, artistic and designed to last.
