Camp and Steel

July 24th - 25th 2025

Forestville CA

Day 2

Check Out by 10:30am

We have to be at Burke’s Canoes by 11am to claim our reservation. Good idea to read the FAQs

We are thinking family style for Friday food, bring shareables of your preference. There’s a store nearby with stupid good deli sandwiches and a shopping inventory well suited to campers/rivergoers.

We can park in their lot and set up camp when we get back. We are using their campgrounds. It was a 2 night minimum so if anyone wants to use the reservation for Saturday night too, you may.

Jon and I have a propane grill for Friday night and we can cook together, again family style.

5pm is the last bus back to the canoe launch. We track our progress via GPS to make sure we make it on time.

Suggested donation: $40-$50 for the campsite depending on how many cars and how much firewood we want.

Day 1

Meet at Steelhead Beach - The first day is a lazy river kind of day. BYOB and food for the afternoon. Jon and I will be arriving around noon.

Sandals or water shoes recommended

We usually park across from Mirabel park and take a raft down the river to get to the beach. There is also a path just down the street. It’s about half a mile walk to the beach.

4pm is check in at the AirBnb. It should be a lovely warm day so no there’s no rush to leave. Only 2 vehicles are permitted to park there so we will have to carpool or two cars will have to park in the neighborhood.

Jon and I will be ordering pizza and make dessert. Sam is bringing dumplings. BYOB

Additional Info

  • Celeste and Jon have a 4 passenger inflatable boat with oars they’ll share. You can join along, bring a raft or a tube, or just swim along the raft.

  • There is a Wal-Mart we will stop at on the way that has inflatable tubes, water guns, sunscreen, and junk. There’s stores in Santa Rosa too.

  • There are plumbed bathrooms and showers that have hot water.

  • We need foldable camp chairs if you have one let us know. Sam has one, and I have one. Jon and I can easily fit 4 people in our tent. Rowan, I know has a little one.

  • For the second night maybe make a bbq fork Wed night. Jon and I can bring cooking and eating tools?

  • Campfires are usually allowed but it’s up to the State. They sell native, cured, firewood onsite, please don’t bring non-native wood in to burn.
